This page outlines the current fee schedule, payment arrangements and practice policies for HK Psychological Services. It forms part of our service agreement with clients and may be updated from time to time. Clients will be notified in advance of any changes to fees or significant practice policies.

Referral Pathways

Clients may access psychological services through a number of funding pathways, including:

  • Medicare Better Access (Mental Health Treatment Plan)

  • Private (self-referral)

  • NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed participants)

  • Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)

  • WorkCover and other approved third-party funding arrangements.

Current Consultation Fees (as at 1 July 2026)

Standard Psychology Consultation (50–55 minutes)

  • Standard consultation fee - $260.00

  • Medicare rebate (Mental Health Treatment Plan) - $101.55

  • Client out-of-pocket cost - $158.45

Clients referred under Medicare's Better Access initiative may be eligible for rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year, subject to Medicare eligibility requirements.

Assessment fees, report writing and other professional services are charged separately where applicable and will be discussed with you before these services are undertaken.

Payment

A valid payment method must be securely stored before your first appointment. Maintaining a valid payment method on file is a condition of receiving our services.

By attending appointments, you authorise HK Psychological Services to process payment for:

  • consultation fees;

  • agreed report writing or other professional services; and

  • cancellation or non-attendance fees where applicable under the cancellation policy.

For administrative efficiency, payments are generally processed by our administration team in scheduled batches each week and may not occur on the same day as your appointment.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe, which complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Full card details are not visible to or stored by HK Psychological Services staff, and receipts are issued for all transactions.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide at least two business days' notice.

Examples include:

  • Notification by Thursday for a Monday appointment; and

  • additional notice where Public Holidays occur within the notice period.

Cancellation fees are as follows:

  • Two business days or more - No charge

  • Less than two business days - 50% of the consultation fee

  • Failure to attend ("no show") - 100% of the consultation fee

Cancellation fees generally cannot be claimed through Medicare or other funding bodies unless permitted under the relevant funding scheme.

Telehealth

Where clinically appropriate, appointments may be provided via secure video or telephone.

By participating in telehealth, you acknowledge that:

  • you will attend from a private, safe and distraction-free environment;

  • while secure systems are used, no technology can guarantee absolute security;

  • technical difficulties may occasionally require the appointment to continue by telephone or be rescheduled; and

  • telehealth may not be clinically appropriate in every circumstance, in which case face-to-face services may be recommended.

Informed Consent

By commencing services with HK Psychological Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to the following.

Nature of Services

Psychological services may include assessment, diagnosis, formulation, treatment planning and evidence-based therapeutic intervention. Your psychologist will discuss the purpose of treatment, answer any questions you may have, and work collaboratively with you throughout your care.

Voluntary Participation

Participation in psychological treatment is voluntary. You may withdraw your consent or pause treatment at any stage and discuss ongoing care with your psychologist.

Confidentiality

Your personal information is managed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, the APS Code of Ethics, and the requirements of the Psychology Board of Australia.

Information disclosed during treatment remains confidential except where disclosure is required or authorised by law or professional obligation, including where there is:

  • a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person;

  • concerns regarding abuse or neglect;

  • a court order, subpoena or other legal requirement; or

  • another circumstance in which disclosure is required by law.

Your psychologist may also consult with appropriately qualified professional peers or supervisors to support high-quality clinical care. Wherever possible, any information discussed during professional consultation will be de-identified.

Financial Responsibility

You acknowledge that you are responsible for payment of all fees associated with services provided, including consultation fees, agreed professional services and any applicable cancellation charges.

Failure to maintain a valid payment method on file may result in future appointments being postponed until suitable payment arrangements have been made.

Fee Changes

Our fees are reviewed periodically and may change over time.

Where fees are updated, clients will be provided with reasonable notice before the new fees take effect. The current fee schedule is always available on this page.
