What to Expect
-
Most clients are initially referred to us by their treating General Practitioner (GP), paediatrician, or psychiatrist as Medicare rebates only apply if you are referred. Once you have your referral, please contact us. We will ask you some basic questions to help us identify the most suitable psychologist for your needs. Our team members are all bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
We accept clients who are not eligible for Medicare rebates, those with private health insurance that covers psychology sessions, or anyone wishing to engage with us directly without a rebate. If you fall into any of these categories or are unsure, please get in touch.
-
Our team will schedule an appointment with the psychologist who best matches your preferences and availability, ensuring a convenient time for you. Usually this can be arranged within days.
-
We will send you an email confirming the scheduled session, a link to your online session, and will ask you to complete an online form and a questionnaire. Your treating psychologist will review this information before your first session to better understand your needs and tailor the first session accordingly. Please ensure you complete the forms at least 24 hours before your appointment. This preparation helps us make the most of your time and treatment can begin effectively.
-
We advise arriving in the online waiting room about 10 minutes early for your initial session. During this session, your psychologist will work with you to clarify your treatment goals and discuss appropriate therapy options. This session also involves exploring relevant aspects of your history to better understand your current concerns.
By the end of the session, you and your psychologist will generally have identified some shared therapy goals to work towards, the approach to be taken, and practical details such as how often sessions will occur and how many sessions might be required.
Sessions last 50 - 55 minutes.
